Judge Berry NEW for 2010!  (Brand 1907)
Very large, even light rose pink of a delicate shade. Some bright gold stamens bring sparkle to the flower. The great immense sized early blooms should be supported. Few doubles of large size are in bloom as early as this one. For those who are interested in preserving peony history some of these 100 year old peonies are still going strong after a century and for the collector make a great addition to your garden.

The floral presentation in the garden is just wonderful as the flowers are held above the foliage in ahorizontal plane giving a high impact in the garden. Japanese cupped red with rose and yellow center, very floriferous, midseason, tall. Because of its vigor and prodigious flower production it is perhaps one of the most widely grown of all the Japanese form peonies. This one has been handed down in many families and if you are looking to find a long lived and dependable peony that will not flop over in bloom this one is a perfect choice. Plant in full sun.

offmtbaldo.jpg

Paeonia officinalis Mt. Baldo  (wild species 1753)
Our original 3 plants were grown from seed that came from Mt. Baldo in Italy. The plants grow to 24” tall and are very early blooming with rosy pink flowers. While we still have the original plant it’s offspring have often superceded it in brilliance of flower color. The habit of the plants are superb forming a nice tight rounded form in the garden and are well adapted to dry well drained sites in full sun. These will be divisions from the original 3 plants grown from wild seed. As our seed divisions grow large enough we will offer some of the select ones also. Very fertile and rewarding for those wishing to try growing peonies from seed.
