Walter Mains GM  (Mains 1957) Huge Hybrid with a Japanese form glowing red, this hybrid is accented by the vibrant gold center. Westerner GM  (Bigger 1942) This is most likely our very largest yet graceful Imperial form variety of peony. In order for a peony to be eligible to win the American Peony Societies highest and most coveted award, the Gold Medal, a peony must now first receive the Award of Landscape Merit. Only 29 varieties received this award for 2009 the first year it was established and voted on by the American Peony Society. In 2010 only 2 recieved the distinction of beingg given this award.
