Peony Baroness Schroeder (Kelway 1889)
This fragrant variety comes from the famous Kelway Nursery in England that introduced the famous Kelway's Glorious. Very large white double, great cut flower. It begins blooming with a pink center that disappears as the flower finishes opening, Excellent foliage and very strong stems. Late-midseason bloom. Plant in full sun.

Peony Boule de Neige (Calot 1867)
Peony Boule de Neige - This ancient and very rare French variety was introduced by Calot in 1867 and survives today due to it’s prolific bloom production. It's blooms are nearly as large as those of Festiva maxima with which it blooms nearly at the same time. However, while it has the same prominent red markings in the center of the flower the flowers are also accented by a golden glow from the stamens at the center of the blooms. For the authentic restoration of historic gardens this is a perfectly lovely variety to choose. Plant in full sun. Week 5 bloom date rating.

Peony Duchesse de Nemours (Calot 1856)
Peony Duchesse de Nemours Fragrant double white, popular cut flower blooms early for a white, large cupped guard petals, very floriferous with strong stems. Peony Festiva Maxima (Miellez 1851)
Peony Festiva Maxima is often substituted with inferior whites with red flares but the true Festiva maxima is a tall massive globular double white with red flares is one of the oldest and still one of the best very fragrant lactiflora whites. Midseason, 36". The healthy , dark green and large foliage is very distinctive. Needs staking to support the large blooms in the garden. As a cut flower it is still very beautiful. Plant in full sun and give it some support for the flowers in bloom. When out of bloom the dark green foliage remains attractive in the garden.

Peony Mikado (Japan 1893)
Peony Mikado has a floral presentation in the garden that is just wonderful as the flowers are held above the foliage in ahorizontal plane giving a high impact in the garden. Japanese cupped red with rose and yellow center, very floriferous, midseason, tall. Because of its vigor and prodigious flower production it is perhaps one of the most widely grown of all the Japanese form peonies. This one has been handed down in many families and if you are looking to find a long lived and dependable peony that will not flop over in bloom this one is a perfect choice.

Peony Noemie Demay (Calot 1867)
Peony Neomie Demay a rare and incredibly fragrant French variety was first cataloged by Calot in 1867. Saved from extinction in a few gardens and treasured for it's heady fragrance which surpasses many of it's garden mates. Double light pink with broad outer petals of light pink and a center that is composed of finer petals and a few red markings the flower fades to near white as it matures hence it is in the group of colors refered to as blush. Peony Philomele (Calot 1861)
Peony Philomele has also been called Vadius in the older literature. An anemone formed pink with a center that is amber-pink to start and grows larger as the flower matures ending mostly pink. You could hardly tell the newly opened flower from one a few days old because of the change. Very novel. Again with a wonderful fragrance as many of the French varieties are noted for possessing. Early mid-season bloom. One of the top ten most fragrant at our nursery. Week 5 bloom date rating.

Peony Sarah Bernhardt (Lemoine 1906)
Peony Sarah Bernhardt noted for incredible vigor and flower production on this very large double dark rose pink flower which is fragrant with strong stems and good foliage. They are great for garden and cut flowers. Mid-very late with many side buds. Number one choice for gardeners in Europe and the U.S. 38" stems should be staked because of the many blooms. Peony Smouthi (Smouth 1845)
Peony Smouthi Fern leaf peony hybrid, Smouthi is fragrant! Bright crimson red single that fades to a bright pink before the petals fall. Very early blooming on plants with fine cut-leaf foliage that turns an attractive yellow in the fall. 24”tall. One of the oldest recorded hybrids it has been in cultivation for over 160 years! It's parents are the fernleaf peony and P. lactiflora. Plant in full sun in a well drained soil. Excellent strong plant habit.
