Late Blooming Peonies Week 6
| Selecting late blooming peonies for the northern gardener extends the peony season out until the other garden perennials take over in late June. Many late blooming peonies are fragrant. While the color selection tends more towards the pinks and whites there are some deep colored red Japanese forms worth including for their color contrast and interesting flower forms. Generally speaking peony growers in the southern growing zones 7B and 8 should not be selecting from this group unless they are of the Japanese form. |

Peony A. B. Franklin GM (Franklin 1928)
Peony A.B. Franklin is a late blooming peony. This large, double blush peony is fragrant. When the flower first opens it is a bright blush pink and then changes to a white, very lovely flower of beautiful form. Developed by Mr. Franklin in Minnesota. Although the 31” stems are strong they should be given some support because of the large blooms. APS Gold Medal Winner! Plant in full sun. Week 6 bloom rating.

Peony Addie Tischler (Tischler 1987)
Peony Addie Tischler a most lovely peony was selected by visitors to Bob Tischler’s peony fields, seedling #8392 went on to be named for Bob’s wife Addie. Our favorite peony 2 years in a row and written up by other peony fanciers as one of their favorites too.
This mid-late blooming double blush peony has 7" blooms on strong, straight, thick 30" stems. The heavy flower substance adds to the flowers resistance to rain effects. The foliage is a wonderful dark green color. It was my favorite blush peony of all those blooming in our fields in 2009 and 2010, I just love it's balanced beauty.
Plant in full sun. Week 6 bloom date rating.
