Harvey's experience growing peonies spans many years and his first hand knowledge of growing species and developing new hybrids allows him to speak from first hand experience. As a published author of many articles on peonies his background research helps to bring you a wealth of new peony information in a practical and colorful format. As current President of the American Peony Society he is an advocate for growing these wonderful perennials and along with his wife Brigitte grow over 600 varieties of peonies. As a speaker he has traveled to Europe, Canada and from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon sharing his enthusiasm for growing peonies, daylilies and alpine/rock garden plants. March 13th 7th District East Metro Spring Fling - The Wonderful World of Peonies (50+ slides) This presentation introduces gardeners to the 5 major groups of peonies and their use in the garden. Species, garden, hybrid, woody and Itoh Group (Intersectional) peonies are covered. The program includes information on dividing, planting and fertilizing peonies and other aspects of peony care. This is a good program for a general garden audience and will expose them to the wide variety of peonies available today. There is time allowed for questions and answers related to growing peonies at the end of the program. We will have a booth at this program where you can visit with us during the breaks and purchase unusual peony varieties for your garden that are not available online. You don't want to miss this well planned and coordinated sell out garden talk extravaganza this year. March 20th at the 2010 Sioux Falls Lawn and Garden Show - Sioux Falls Arena Convention Center. - The Wonderful World of Peonies (50+ slides) This presentation introduces gardeners to the 5 major groups of peonies and their use in the garden. April 10th at the 4th Annual Home Landscaping and Garden Fair Exhibition Fair at Bunker Hills Activities Center, Andover, Minnesota. Come to the premier presentation of: The Best Fragrant Peonies (80 slides) Near the top of many gardeners lists for deciding which peonies to add to their gardens is fragrance. Over 70 peony varieties are discussed and rated for fragrance.
