Peony Romantic Lace New 2013 Introduction! (Tischler/Buchite 2013)
Peony Romantic Lace is a brand new introduction for 2013. The dark pink buds open to a lovely 5 1/2” Japanese form flower held a few inches above a dense compact plant with dark green, disease resistant foliage. The 10-12 lavender-pink guard petals have a silvery white cast to the edges as the flower matures and hold their cupped form as the bloom ages. The creamy, amber pink center staminodes are flattened and cupped with each finely laced edge highlighted by a bright gold accent when freshly opened. Three side buds extend the mid-season bloom. No pollen or seeds noted. Fragrance is mild and pleasing. It has shown excellent bud and plant hardiness during extreme weather conditions during pre-bloom and bloom season. No loss of bloom or foliage damage during several severe springs making it a vigorous variety adapted to adverse weather. Plant in full sun. Week 5 bloom date rating.

Peony Boule de Neige (Calot 1867)
Peony Boule de Neige - This antique and very rare French variety was introduced by Calot in 1867 and survives today due to it’s prolific bloom production. It's blooms are nearly as large as those of Festiva maxima with which it blooms nearly at the same time. However, while it has the same prominent red markings in the center of the flower the flowers are also accented by a golden glow from the stamens at the center of the blooms. For the authentic restoration of historic gardens this is a perfectly lovely variety to choose. Plant in full sun. Week 5 bloom date rating.
