August Dessert (Dessert 1920)
August Dessert is a prolific, large double pink, sometimes called light red of an unusual color, big round petals edged in silver, it blooms midseason. It makes a fine garden plant mixed with other perennials as you can see at the top of our home page. It is very fragrant like many French varieties of peonies.Plant in full sun.

Baroness Schroeder (Kelway 1889)
This variety comes from the famous Kelway Nursery in England. Very large white double, great cut flower. It begins blooming with a pink center that disappears as the flower finishes opening, Excellent foliage and very strong stems. Late-midseason bloom. Plant in full sun.

Battle Flag (Nicholls 1941)
This Imperial or Japanese form red peony has consistently been at the top of visitors favorite lists. It is the very deep glowing red color that admirers mentioned as the attraction that they picked it out ahead of other similar varieties. Staminodes are also red with yellow back sides. Belle Center (Mains 1956)
Supply is limited of this semi-double hybrid bearing shallow cup-shaped blooms with deep mahogany-red petals and bright yellow stamens. The color holds well in the garden. Early season bloom looks very dramatic when paired with white or pale yellow flowered neighbors. Height 30 inches.

Ben Erickson (Tischler 1999)
A newer introduction of Bob Tischler’s it is a medium colored red double. The 5-6" blooms are highlighted by bright yellow stamens that will peak through as the flower is opening. Midseason blooms are held on strong stems. This Tischler peony named for Bob’s grandson is difficult to find as it had a very limited distribution.

Beth Erickson (Tischler 1989)
Beth Erickson peony has a rose lavender Japanese form flower whose guard petals and center are the same color when first open, later the center fades to a lovely lacy light pink. Very early blooms are 6" for the main bloom followed by 4" side blooms. The side blooms extend the bloom period for a another 5 days.

I could hardly believe this peony bloom the first time I saw it. The brilliant red black hybrid double blooms stood out dramatically against the green foliage. An early bloomer it has a nice round bud, stiff stems and medium green leaves. Rarely offered it is a great find for the peony collector.
