E.J. Friesen is a large 8" flat type double red on 36" stems fairly strong for the large flower size. Fine foliage, blooms midseason. The flat flower form allows water to drain from the flower to hold it upright when it rains. Plant in full sun.

Early Bird (Saunders 1939)
Darling dwarf plant, abundant, single bright crimson flowers above fern leaf foliage. A rare hybrid between the fern leaf peony P. tenuifolia and P. veitchii woodwardii, very early, usually blooming before the fern-leaf peony and right at the same time as the flowering crabapples. 20".
Plant in full sun and well drained soil.

Edward Steichen (Saunders 1941)
Semi-double vivid dark red Saunder's hybrid, large handsome flowers, lasts well, spreading habit, finest of this strain. Early 30" tall. Has produced an occasional seed which is rare for some of these Saunders hybrids. Foliage is a chartreuse color when first emerging adding to it's garden interest. Ensign Moriarity SOLD OUT (Lins 1945)
Ensign Moriarity is a very large full double heavy bloom on very strong stems which nearly hold the great bloom upright. Color is medium dark pink blending lighter pink on petal edges blooms late midseason. Great garden and exhibition flower. 24 -32" stems. Very rarely offered our plants came from Gus Sindt past president of the American Peony Society. Very difficult to find variety. Plant in full sun.
