Peonies Q-R

ramonalins.jpg

Ramona Lins  (Lins 1942)
This beautiful double flower opens a lovely blush in cool seasons and white in normal temperatures. What separates this bloom from others is the perfect form of the blooms which have petals very neatly arranged. A mid-late bloomer it has strong straight 38" stems. Mr. Lins peony introductions were of the highest quality and certainly what one would have to call a very classy appearance. Some peony growers have made it a quest to try to collect all of the Lins peonies for their collection.

Raspberry Sundae  (Klehm 1968)
Double bomb soft raspberry and white blend, blooms early mid season, sweet fragrance. With 36" tall stems it is great for cutting. I would advise staking it in a garden setting as the generous blooms stress the strength of the stems.

Red Ensign  (Auten 1940)
Hybrid semi-double, very glossy brilliant dark red. The plant is more compact, almost dwarf in habit than many hybrids. Rarely offered. Early season bloomer. We have an extremely short supply of this difficult to find hybrid available this season and when it is sold out will with hold it to rebuild our supplies again.

Red Grace  (Glasscock 1980)
Red Grace is a double deep red hybrid, ball form has tightly packed petals to almost form a complete globe, good substance and strong 36" stems. Once seen it remains etched in your mind as a model of fine form and grace. Although Red Charm gets more press I think this variety has better foliage and finer plant habit. Plant in full sun in a well drained soil.

Red Red Rose  (Saunders 1942)
Red Red Rose is a single to semi-double bright red hybrid with blooms that are cup shaped and held neatly above glossy foliage on sturdy 30” upright stems. The color of this one is outstanding, a clear red, and to make that point the introducer no doubt used the word red twice in the name. Early mid-season bloom. Plant in full sun in a well drained soil.

Roberta Erickson  (Tischler 1995)
Roberta Erickson is almost unknown as it was one of Bob Tischlers more recent introductions that was not widely distributed. It is a fragrant, ivory white double with blooms that are 6 - 8" across in size and flowers midseason. Flower form is flat and opens easily. Strong 32 -34" stems with medium green foliage. Bob told me that the flat flower form stood up better after a rain because the water could drain through the petals like a sieve rather than fill up like a bowl for some of the tightly packed double forms. This was Bob Tischler’s seedling number #307.
