Victoire de la Marne  (Dessert 1915)
Much preferred in Europe by florists this floriferous double purple red has very large flowers with good stems and foliage. When I first saw this I fell in love with it and others have appreciated it too as it often ends up on order lists so that we try to keep enough on hand to divide every few years. We have only a moderate supply this season.

Virginia Mary  (Pfeiffer 1932)
Early, double deep pink flowers, excellent for cutting garden with many blooms open at one time. The real value of this variety is that it provides a nice big double pink earlier than other varieties and makes a big garden impact. Developed by a Minnesota nursery and named for their daughter. Plant in full sun.

Walter Mains GM  (Mains 1957)
Huge Hybrid with a Japanese form glowing red, this hybrid is accented by the vibrant gold center. Show stopping blooms are held on strong stems, early in the peony bloom season. This APS Gold Medal winner will have cars slowing down to see what’s blooming in your garden. The Japanese form is very rare in Hybrid peonies and this one is most likely the best of them all.

Westerner GM  (Bigger 1942)
This is most likely our very largest yet graceful Imperial form variety of peony. Extremely large broad pink petals surround a center of bright gold on this APS Gold Medal winning Japanese form peony. Fantastic symetrical flower shape above 36 inch stems. People remember it from the fields and have to add one to their gardens. Plant in full sun. Absolutely beautiful in a simple Japanese Style flower arrangement or left on the plant to create that "oh my goodness look at the size of that flower" exclamation.

yellowcrown.jpg

Yellow Crown  (Itoh 1974)
Brilliant full double yellow flowers are held above the exotic tree peony-like pointed foliage of this intersectional Itoh hybrid. One parent was a garden peony and the other was a yellow tree peony that created this sensational peony that is fragrant too as a bonus. The stems can look like a tree peony but the plants die to the ground every winter and produce a nice healthy blooming plant the next season from buds below the ground.
