Peony Janice is a charming pale salmon pink with large single blooms of fine form. The color is a luminous opaque pink and really stands out in the garden without being overpowering. It blooms early. You'll keep going back in the garden to look at it and admire its beauty. Nice strong stems and clean foliage. Plant in full sun in a well drained soil. A rare and difficult to find Saunders Hybrid our supplies are limited for 2012. Week 4 bloom rating.

Rare Saunders Hybrid Peony Campagna

Peony Campagna is a brilliant single white hybrid with a goblet shaped bloom with green shadows and no pink tones. Remarkable clear opaque white color is a perfect background for the gold center. A triple hybrid. lacti x (off. x mac). This rare Saunders hybrid is very difficult to find and is such a choice plant for those looking for a very pure white to place in a white theme garden that blooms early in the peony flowering season. Prefers a sunny well drained site for best performance. Week 3 bloom date rating. Very limited number of plants available in 2012.

Peony Rose Garland is one of the rare reverse crosses made by Dr. Saunders where the seed parent was the P. perergina plant and the pollen used was from the lactiflora parent. It is a single deep rose colored hybrid with a compact dwarf growing habit. Week 5 bloom date rating. Plant in full sun.

Peony Athena is back on our list for 2012 but in very short supply. Athena is a stunning patterned, early blooming single, apricot buff with rosy pink flares inside each petal. The strong 30" stems grow quickly in the spring and the flower has a pleasant,light fragrance. This is one of Professor Saunders' Quad hybrids involving 4 different peony species in its background. The foliage stays healthy all season. Plant in full sun. After our supply is sold this year the next offering will be fall 2013. Week 2 bloom date rating.

Rare Saunders Hybrid Peony Late Windflower

Peony Late Windflower SOLD OUT  (Saunders 1939)
Peony Late Windflower is a single white peony with side facing blooms with a deep orange gold center of stamens. Lacy foliage and multiple blooms on each stem add to its grace. It is a rare primary hybrid between Paeonia veitchii and the Himalayan Peony, Paeonia emodi. Rarely offered for sale it performs best in an area with afternoon shade and a wood land like leaf mulch. Week 4 bloom date rating. Plant in full morning sun with late afternoon sun protection.

Peony Magnolia Flower One of the four rare offspring named as the result of crossing a lactiflora peony with the pale cream yellow Paeonia wittmanniana. A lovely single of pale pink coloration with just a hint of the creaminess under color from its rare wittmanniana parent. Week 4 bloom date rating. Plant in full sun.

Saunders Hybrid Peony Nosegay

Peony Nosegay SOLD OUT  (Saunders 1950)
Peony Nosegay is a second generation cross between the yellow Paeonia mlokosewitschii and the fern leaf peony it is perhaps one of the most charming of the very early blooming hybrids. It opens with a suffusion of “morning dawn colors” of pink and pale amber eventually fading to a creamy white as the petals mature. The leaves are attractively narrowed from its fern leaf parent. The red pistils and red lower stamens stems in the center of the flower add interest. Altogether charming. Week 3-4 bloom date rating. Plant in full sun.

Peony Early Bird SOLD OUT  (Saunders 1939)
Peony Early Bird is a darling dwarf plant, abundant, single bright crimson flowers above fern leaf foliage. A rare hybrid between the fern leaf peony P. tenuifolia and P. veitchii woodwardii, very early, usually blooming before the fern-leaf peony and right at the same time as the flowering crabapples. 20". Plant in full sun and well drained soil. Week 1 bloom date rating. Limited supply in 2011!
